The Saas-Fee Ride 2004 ended on a high, with everyone getting together outside in the sun at the Popcorn bar, Dom Hotel, for a chilled out prizegiving.
On the official day of the comp - 24th July, the weather put a stop to anyone getting up the mountain. With freezing temperatures at an unusual 3800m over night and thick cloud on the Saturday morning the event had to be posponed for one day |
SKIER CROSS
|
Sunday 25th July was bright, blue and cold! The Skier Cross course was hard and fast. For safety reasons, the comp kicked off when the snow softened a little. The early time trials on the hard snow were fast and exciting to watch. Fast enough that the rider requested the course to be slowed down with additional turning points. |

HALFPIPE
The Halfpipe Comp in the Saas-Fee Glacier snow park, with the Allalin behind, provided a spectacular backdrop for the summer event. Reto Sporrer, park shaper, had created a world class pipe, inspiring some awsome tricks by some of Europe top Athletes.
Andy Bennett from the UK stole the show, throwing out some huge Ally Oops, Flairs with Tail Grabs and super clean Back Flips. He kept a smooth and fluid display in the pipe whilst generating big amplitude. He finished with a cheeky Back Flip off the lip at the end creating a big cheer from all those watching. A 1st place well deserved.
